Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!  The year 2010 has arrived.  There is such a sense of hope at the opening of a new year.  There are resolutions made.  There are days of old put to rest.

There are many different reactions to a new year, most of which are positive ones.  I think most people hope that this new start will bring a better outcome for their lives.  It is like having a clean slate.  Resolutions can involve commitments from new health choices in food to a more positive attitude towards life in general.  Whatever your resolutions are, I wish everyone the best in fulfilling them.  For me, I am going to continue to work on getting healthier and continue with weight loss.  I also am willing to reopen the doors of my heart to the possibility of romance, love and marriage.  There have been many bridges that I had to cross to arrive at this place.

I believe this is the year for me to move forward in new ways.  I also want to stay committed to working out.  This decision to work out was inspired by poor lipid profiles.  I have been faithful to this activity since July.  I need to carry that commitment into the New Year and every year thereafter.  I am also closing in on a new career by working on schooling to bring me there.  It is becoming closer to my reach.

Safety Ideas for Children

It is imperative to keep a child's environment safe. This is a tall order as children's safety can be to keep them from dangerous items on a shelf to unsafe people. There are solutions to each child safety issue. The key to safety is to follow those same rules.

One place to keep safe is the home where the child lives and plays. The cabinets have historically been of great interest to children thus a safety issue. The old fashioned way of approaching this is tp keep everything harmful thing that a child could touch or ingest out of reach. In today's world there are many great cabinet locks that can be put on. There are safety items to place in all the electrical outlets. There are gates to keep children from falling down stairs.

The outdoors is another place to safety proof as much as possible. Having a good fence along with supervisions will keep a child safe from stray dogs and strangers. A safe yard is a great place for a child to run and play in freedom.

There is one huge concern and that is to keep children safe from the pedophiles just waiting for an opening. Never leave a child alone for one minute while shopping. It is better to shop with a buddy system as that way one person has their eyes on the child or children at all times. This is the most serious issue as to lose in this situation is almost a sure impending death of the child.

New Beginnings for the New Year

The week between Christmas and New Year's Day seems to fly by. After the hustling and bustling of the gift giving, receiving and returning, a much needed rest is welcomed. This particular week seems to be one where we can all integrate the new and get rid of the old.

We can do this in the practical from new slippers to new cars. We also can do this in the spiritual and emotional. We can prepare ourselves for the variety of New Year's resolutions that are forthcoming. It is an exciting time of year as it is offers a new beginning. Everyone enjoys new beginnings. What areas of newness one might embark on is a personal decision. On the other hand, new beginnings are sometimes placed upon us without our permission. That is defined as us making plans while life happens. How many times have you made plans and through no fault of your own the plans got cancelled? There is a saying that states "the greatest plans of mice and men often go astray." Those words of wisdom have stayed close to the forefront of my thinking to keep me prepared for the unexpected.

New begging can be turned to good even if the onset is not good. Divorce is one of those experiences that can be turned around. There are many people who have been left by their mates for another. Though it may seem life has ended, there is life on the other side of divorce.
